Peace

Peace

“I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality… I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.” Martin Luther King, Jr.

This blog is long over due. I had someone close to me pass away this past week. I have been busy in my real life dealing emotionally and personally with her death. It made me appreciate life. She was my teacher. She was my friend’s mother. She was a pillar of her community. She radiated life. My heart sank to the floor, when I found out. I haven’t been the same since. So this blog is late. While I don’t blast my personal life, I felt the need to explain my absence. I took time away to help those grieving–and myself.

This blog post is really dedicated to her. My teacher would have wanted me to speak about peace. She loved everyone and she helped those in need. There’s stories of her pulling over and helping to fix a friend’s car. She would take time out to talk to people. She educated 1,000’s of students in her lifetime. I’m saddened by her death. I’m also saddened by the cultural climate of the US.  She would be appalled.

There are news stories swarming the US of sexism, homophobia, misogyny, xenophobia, trans-phobia and racism. There is violence in the streets. People are getting assaulted and called names. Americans are fearing for their life. Here I sit, watching and fearing for people who are dear to me–and grieving my own personal loss.

I hope for peace. I hope hatred is denounced. The US has come a long way, but it still has some growing to do.  I always end my blog with… be kind to one another. It’s not a blanket statement. I actually want others to show kindness, because the world can be a difficult place. My teacher was such a gentle person. She is part of the reason that I believe in being kind, and helping others. I hope that others can be the light to their neighbors–be it virtually or in real life. Lets all shine a light on others lives. Stop the hate.

Now, I want to discuss my photo and clothes. I’m wearing this gorgeous white dress from Just Because. It’s appropriately named the venom gown. The details in the snake are fantastic. The gown is sleek. I can see wearing this piece for quite some time. It’s currently available at this month’s Collabor 88. Details about styling can be found down below.

Be kind to one another.
