“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage”.
Lao Tzu

I’ve wanted to do this picture, since the creation of this blog. I’m so happy to finally take this picture. I waited to gain some editing skills—and the right outfit. I’m happy to do this picture because there’s so much representation in this one little photo–that has surrounded my time in second life. We all choose our path. Mine contained creative characters, caring people, sometimes difficult people as well, and a few that provided laughs (when I really needed them).

The moment that I knew this picture needed to be made, I looked forward to sharing it with the one person who would appreciate it the most. I believe in signs and omens. So when the epiphany was filled with Asian inspired items and those few things that reminded me of a person that surrounded me in my second life, I knew what it meant. It was time to do this picture. Of course, I wish there was a better time to do this picture–perhaps a year or so ago. But timing has always been an issue for me–nothing is ever convenient. BUT, maybe it is the perfect time. Hopefully that person meant to see it–reads this post.

Then, I found this wonderful quote that sums up so many things for me. It’s personal and relevant–and on the nose. I have such a friend that has been there over the years. He gave me strength in some of my darkest of hours. I had the blessing of courage, but I also needed strength. It’s a very valued trait to have, especially when your journey in life requires it. Yet, I imagine everyone must need a bit of strength to get through real life–as well as second life. Maybe the person who gives you strength is miles away. Maybe they’re family, a beloved friend, or maybe they’re even a stranger. Where ever you find strength, cherish them while you have them. This post is dedicated to the one person who was my strength, during my most difficult of times. Kitsunes will forever be in my heart.

Okay, now lets talk about how I got to this lovely picture–THE EPIPHANY! I love this event so much. I love gachas. Three different companies helped me to create this wonderful picture–Cureless, The Ugly and Beautiful, and Zenith. The wheels in the background are from The Ugly and Beautiful. They’re called Firey Green Wanyudo at the epiphany. My kimono, umbrella, and gold fish in hand all come from Zenith (Shen Le) gacha. The Zenko kitsune beside me in the above photo is from Cureless. All of these items can be found at the epiphany. So try your luck at this wonderful gacha event!!!

“The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity. The fears are paper tigers. You can do anything you decide to do. You can act to change and control your life; and the procedure, the process is its own reward.” Amelia Earhart

I’d like to talk a little bit about second life etiquette for a minute. The other day, I was approached to take nude photos. I politely declined, but this individual insisted on trying to sway me otherwise. Even in a virtual world, I’d like to remind people that no means no. Please do not push the issue. It makes people feel uncomfortable and cornered. It’s just not a polite thing to do. Please respect your fellow residents.

Now that the SL etiquette discussion is over with, I’d like to talk about this fabulous outfit. I bought this hair from, you guessed it, Hair Fair. It’s by Exile and humorously called All My Best Lies. This hair has bento features included, which means the hair gracefully moves with your body. If the bento feature isn’t your cup of tea, the hair also has non bento hair included. I really adore how soft it’s styled.I really like this hair and see myself wearing it quite a bit this summer season.

Then, I headed over to Collabor88 and found this wonderful bathing suit from Blueberry. I am biased. Blueberry is one of my favorite go to companies. I always find great pieces from their store. The bathing suit is called Adrianna and is available in multiple hues. Finally, if you like this sandy look, Izzie’s has a sand body applier for the maitreya body. If you like any of these styles, please look at my credits located down below this post.

To conclude this wonderful summer post, I want to talk about the quote above. I love Amelia Earhart’s past, because of her courage, and bravery. It’s such a wonderful way to live life–taking it by the horns so to speak. I’ve never heard of comparing fear to paper tigers, but I like metaphor. There’s something oddly calming about thinking about my own fears in this regard. If only we could all live life this fearless, think of all the things we could accomplish. Thinking of her and this quote makes me smile, so I hope that this makes someone else smile.

Okay that’s all for now my lovely readers. Be good to one another!!

Hair Fair 2017 – Gifts & Dollarbies – Noirette & Brunette

Hair Fair Second Life 2023

Hair Fair is full of incredible styles, newly created for this annual event. Some stores like to add to that by providing Gifts or Dollarbies (often which is also donated) and sometimes this can be hair, or other items they create for their brand. I combed (see what I did there) the Brunette and Noirette sims, and these are the items that I found. So if you missed them on your own trip around the event, this is a good reason to visit us again.

This is also a great place to take newer residents you may encounter during this time of year, as you could start them on their own love affair with Hair, and through the gifts and dollarbies, they could discover stores that become their go to for Hair for years to come.

I will do a follow up post with Blonde and Redhead soon.

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.” Eleanor Roosevelt

I’ve always loved this quote, because it is so incredibly true. In the past, I’ve felt inferior to others. I gave people that power, unfortunately. It took this quote to remind me of a very important lesson. It’s important not to give someone that kind of power. People are just people–no matter who they are or where they come from. If you feel strong, you will be. If you feel like you can do something, then you can. You are only limited by your own limitations. The reason that it’s important not to let someone effect you like that is because you set yourself up for never feeling worthy of doing great things. We are always capable of doing great things.

Now that I have you feeling all warm and fuzzy, I’d like to talk about this outfit. I went to the Hair Fair for this lovely coif. It’s by Limerence and it’s called Jess. I really adore this hair. This company is new to me, which is always nice to discover new companies. It’s so soft and pretty. I had to pair it with some flowers, so I headed over to the Chapter Four. I played the Lode gacha machine and won the Spiderwort Flower in purple and gold. Then, after a few days of trying, I got into the Crystal Heart Fair and bought this cute pink outfit by Evani and it’s called Elliean skirt–and top. Finally, I paired it with makeup by Alaskametro called the Lumina makeup palette, which I got in this month’s powder pack.

Speaking of the Powder Pack, I’d really like to take a second to talk about it. I’m not one to get the monthly boxes, but I love makeup. I’ve wanted to try this one at least once, before casting any judgements. The Powder Pack is a box that you preorder which comes with a bunch of makeup from various companies. Right now, they have makeup for Catwa and LeLutka. If you preorder your box, you end up paying less. The dates for those orders are listed at their main headquarters. For catwa, it’s the first of the month. For LeLutka, it’s the 18th. It costs 1,500L. However, after the preorder dates, the box goes up to 3,000L. The boxes comes with skin, makeup, and eyebrows. The following companies currently participate in the monthly box: adored, Alaskametro, Amara Beauty, Arte, Egozy, Ohemo, Essences, Modish, Mudskin, Slack Girl, Studio Exposure, Zibska, Atelier Pepe, DeeTalez, Izzies, Just Magnetized, Pink Fuel, and Pumac. As you can see, there are a lot of companies that participate. You can also purchase past boxes, but again they cost 3,000L.

In my opinion, the powder pack box is really a bargain. It comes with so many products from some of the grids best companies out there. I see myself purchasing this box again in the future. I have found some of my favorite makeup in these powder pack boxes. It really is worth the linden.

I’ve had a great time shopping this month for makeup, hair, and clothes. There’s some fantastic summer shopping this month. So grab a friend and plan a trip. It’s so worth it.I hope you all have some summer fun on and off the grid. If you like any of the above styling, please check my credits below for landmarks.

As always, be kind to one another.

Summer Holiday

Summer Holiday

“Summer means happy times and good sunshine. It means going to the beach, going to Disneyland, having fun.”

Brian Wilson

It’s true that I have summer on the brain. It seems like this season is almost passing me by, but I know fun things are on my horizon. Instead of being sad that time is flying, I’m trying to enjoy the time that’s left. This time of  year really is about having fun and making memories. I couldn’t think of a better quote. I hope that many of you are making memories today and tomorrow.

Since I felt in the spirit of summer, I wanted to purchase a new bathing suit. I didn’t have to look any farther than FaMeshed. I bought this wonderful suit from Dead Dollz, which is one of my go to companies. The designer is super nice. I also end up always loving the clothes. This bathing suit is no exception. It’s sexy and also modest in a way. It’s a hard feat, but it was done beautifully, in my opinion.

Then, I went to the Hair Fair. I found this really gorgeous ponytail from Stealthic. It’s called paradox. I love this hair. The textures were beautifully done. I see myself wearing it all the time. It may just be one of my new go to pieces. Thank you Stealthic for making me want to be a brunette–well at least for today :-P.

Finally, I went over to Kustom9 and found the perfect end to a hot summer day–a popsicle. It comes with three bento poses. I will note those poses were not used for this picture. I did a little bit of animare, maitreya hand poses, and a separate pose for this picture. Any way, it was a bit of work, but I like the end result. Any way,, the Popsicle is from Pew Pew and it’s called Ringtower Popsicle. They have many different Popsicles available in different sizes and hues.

Whew, after all that shopping, I need a lazy summer day myself! If you like any of these items featured in the picture above, please check out my credits with landmarks. I hope you are all having a wonderful summer!

“True wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life, ourselves, and the world around us.” Socrates

It’s been awhile, since I’ve written this many blogs in one week. What can I say? I love Hair fair. This really is my favorite time of year. There’s pools, heat, ice cream, and new wigs. It really is my idea of fun. Many may see my avatar online, but fret not. I’m just enjoying the heat and a cold beverage. So please forgive my afk’s. I digress though. Lets talk about Summer Fest and Hair Fair.

This past week, I went across the grid looking for the perfect summer outfit and shades. I had to look no further than Summer Fest. I found the shorts, tank, necklace, and shades all at Summer Fest. The necklace and shades are from Amala. I adore both of these pieces and want to wear them all the time. The shirt and shorts come from C’est la vie. They are both really cute pieces. This outfit screams fun in the sun. I have the wonderful designers to thank.

Now onto Hair Fair, this truly is an event that I look forward to every year. This hair is also from Little Bones. I fell in love with this wig, as soon as I saw it. It’s called Naomi. It comes with different looks too within a hud. You can move one piece of hair to one side of the head, or you can have all your hair back–or even all of your hair pushed forward. It’s like getting four different hairs in one. It truly is a deal.

Finally, I really like this quote–below my photo. Over the last two years, I’ve found myself realizing how little that I understand. The wisdom comes in the realization of how much there is to learn about the world and ourselves. Life can never be fully understood, because it’s always throwing curve balls at us. I’ve had a few thrown my way inworld and in real life. I find myself lately questioning everything that I used to know. It’s not a fun feeling, but the wisdom that some things remain a mystery is kind of calming in a way. You can’t plan out life. It’s true what they say though, “God laughs, when you’re making plans.” I’m not much for religion, but I find this saying to be true.

The only way to deal with the mystery of life is to enjoy morning coffee/tea, playing in the pool, reading a book, watching tv, working out at the gym, cuddling your pet or even having fun in a virtual world with friends. The most enjoyable aspects of life help to deal with the harder parts. I’m starting to understand this a little more this summer. I have friends and family who are refusing to let me mope about in my house. I’ve had invites to the beach, which they will not let go. I might have to learn to enjoy the good parts of life, so the harder parts are a bit easier to deal with. Yet, there’s much about the world that I don’t understand. I’m still growing. I’m still learning, but I can enjoy those outfits designers make and the real life beach. I will be the first to admit the world around me doesn’t make any sense sometimes. I’m flawed. I make mistakes. But in the end, I’m just a person trying to understand myself a bit more and the world around me.

Okay, I’ve given you some food for thought and hopefully I’ve also given you a few places to check out this summer. I have to go to enjoy this summer day, before the thunderstorms roll in. If you like this outfit, please check out my credits for landmarks.

Be kind to one another.

Violet xoxo

“Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can’t help them, at least don’t hurt them.” Dalai Lama

It’s that time again–HAIR FAIR TIME!!! I’m super excited this week, because it’s the start of hair fair, which contributes a portion of the proceeds to Wigs For Kids. Also there are a ton of designers who participate and there’s some really great hair. I always spend a bit of money there, ever year. I don’t even feel bad about it.

In my personal life, I’ve always tried to give money and time to causes like this. So I’m thrilled that this event exists in our virtual space. Even if you only buy one or two things, it’s for a really good cause.

Over the next few days, I’ll be blogging some of my favorite hair from this shopping event. I’m starting with one of my favorite companies Little Bones. This particular hair is called October. I instantly fell in love with this hair and I see myself wearing it quite a bit. I paired it with some retro sunglasses and a shirt from The Secret Store called a Cindy Knotted Shirt. You can find the shirt at Collabor88, but you have to hurry. Collabor88 will soon be closing soon for its next round.

I look forward to a few events across the grid. This is one of those events. I can help people and buy something cute, which I love. I think philanthropy is so important and I truly believe the Dalai Lama got it right with this quote. I’d like to think that my life’s purpose is to help others in any way that I can, so I appreciate the opportunity to help others within a virtual space. I hope others feel the same way and decide to check out Hair Fair.

This event is a little large, so the organizers made it a little simple. They listed the event by landmark and the stores within each landmark, on their event’s blog. If you check out my post below this one, you’ll find it. I’m also listing the link within this blog as well.

I hope you find the hair of your dreams, and help someone in the process. Don’t forget to bring a friend. You can find styling in my credits below.

Be good to one another.
