This blog post took me a little longer to do. I haven’t felt very well this month, so I’m just now putting out a blog post about pride. I hope that everyone is having a great Pride month. In world, Pride is currently raising money for the Trevor Project. It’s a great cause. It’s so important that you go, donate, and purchase items at this month’s Pride event inworld. The Trevor project helps kids who are in crisis within the LGBTQ community. They do some really great work and I fully support them. So please get out there and donate.

To help me create this great photo, I teleported two great friends of mine that have been steady rocks for me. I’ve gone through a lot with those two people, so it made sense to include them. Christian is rocking the pride cape like the superhero that he is, which is available at Riot’s mainstore. Me, I’m wearing the group gift from Villena, which is available at Kustom9 and Poette (the gorgeous blond to my left.. not right oops) is staying cool in this romper available at Summer Fest.

I want to go into Summer Fest because I spent so much money there. I almost spent over my uber budget. So I have to say, it is a great event. I bought a lot of items. Almost everything you  see in this photo is from summer fest–the house, compass, surf board, and ice cream machine.. right to the sandals by Eliavah. I really can’t rave enough about this event enough. I basically redecorated my house with all new furniture from Summer Fest. So i have to thank the designers for really creating some very special items. I do wish that men had a few more options though. I’d like to go shopping with my guy friends 😀 . But, there are some great pieces of furniture. Also, this outfit includes items from various events including: Cosmopolitan, Good Vibes, and Kustom9. For more info, please read down below.

Finally, I’d like to go into this quote a little bit. I truly believe in this way of thinking. Everyone is significant and important. I’ve heard people say that they didn’t feel important. Sometimes what you give people isn’t money, or stuff–those things are nice. However, the relationships that we form in the course of our life have a way of impacting the other people around us. The love from friends, family, spouses, and even strangers can change a persons world and outlook on life. So you are important… just by existing in this world, you are meaningful, loved, and needed. The LGBTQ community has endured hardships and scrutiny. So it’s important to appreciate how far the world has come, but continue to fight the good fight. And… I also think it’s important to tell everyone that they matter in this world, because you do.

You matter. You’re important. Things will get better.

I hope everyone had a great first day of summer, first and foremost!!! This year seems to blazing by in a flash. I am loving the journey of blogging. This photo up above has been a photo that I wanted to take for the longest time, but I waited for the perfect dress and accessories (just like in real life). I wanted everything to be perfect and I wanted it to be like how I envisioned. Also I want to put out there… NO I am not getting partnered. This is just a photo for the beauty and fun of it.

I’m still continuing with my series of tarot card inspired blog posts. This post is inspired by The Empress card. I looked through all the other major arcana cards and I knew this card would be perfect for this photo. It’s the card of femininity. “She is also sometimes seen as delighting us with flowers and fruit. A potentially terrifying aspect of this archetype manifests itself whenever karmic mood swings wipe out our plans, like a storm that has come upon us.” I’ve gone through a lot of things that wiped out my plans, only to put me through a different and a necessary path. Those paths led me to a wedding dress and some flowers. Honestly, I chose this card to go with this picture because it screams femininity too.

Speaking about this dress, I won this dress from the arcade. You’ll have to hurry though, because the days are numbered for the arcade. I won it from the Dead Dollz gacha. I knew right away this dress would in fact be “the” dress for this photo. I’ve waited way too long to take it. But today was the day. And I am sort of glad that I did wait. There are so many great items at the arcade this round. I can’t gush about it enough. You’ll have to hurry though. The arcade won’t be around too much longer.

Finally, I have to talk about this pose. I bought this pose at the vintage fair from a friend and pose maker–Nantra. I have to give a huge shout out to Nantra poses. They are a great pose company. It doesn’t hurt that the owner is also extremely sweet. I’ve been friends with her for some time and I should have raved about her poses long ago. If you haven’t checked out her store, I highly recommend it. Again, this pose is from the vintage fair and called Follies. The original pose did come with an adjustable and removable prop and the couch of course. I have not altered this pose at all. I rezzed it and I took the prop off and added a bouquet. Then, I snapped this picture. It is truly incredibly when a pose creator makes a pose that you can take a picture of right away. This creator truly is creative and talented. Opps, it seems that I’ve fallen, while snapping this picture. I was hoping my audience would forgive me for a non stunning posed picture. Everyone makes mistakes, right? Right??? It’s okay though. I’ve forgiven myself and taken this opportunity to laugh at myself.

I’m starting to embrace humor in my pictures. I was chatting with someone one day. They commented on my pictures not being funny or fun. I did some self reflections and realized that they were right. It’s nice to change up your pictures or old habits. You may even learn something new about yourself in the process. It’s never too late to try something new. And I definitely wanted to try something different. Maybe even laugh at myself a little.

But, I could never have been given this opportunity without the help of some very special designers. I visited the vintage fair recently and found this really great set from a company that’s new to me. Kei’s Spot is the creator of this 1950’s inspired bath house. Even though it’s not the exclusive at the vintage fair, it’s still a great piece. Here’s why, many times I look at backdrops and buy them, but they do sit in my inventory. This type of backdrop isn’t really just for pictures. I can actually use this as decor on my land. I love buying something that will double as a photo prop and also use it multiple times for different purposes. I really hope that more companies start to make a backdrops that could double as decor. My picture would never have the same feeling with out Kei’s spot.. so thank you so much for creating this fun product!!

Moving along to my bathing suit, as many people know, I’m having a love affair with Eliavah products. She created this wonderful bathing suit for Frou Frou. I absolutely adore all the options that are available. With the options of a shiny suit, or more of a matte textured suit, I had to try something a bit different. I love this company because I’m always tempted to try new colors, designs, or patterns. There are 33 available options for the swimsuit. that’s a lot of options. The fatpack does include additional options only available with in it. There’s 27 available options. BUT, she also included a hud to change the ribbons as well. So there are a ton of ways to customize your bathing suit. I can’t rave about this company enough, but she definitely works hard and it shows.

Finally, I’d like to talk about my tattoo and hair. I found this hair at equal10 by Doux. It’s not the exclusive event item, but I knew it would be perfect for this photo. My tattoo is from Pichi. I like to throw in tattoos sometimes. It’s a nice change and everyone needs a bit of change sometimes. It’s available at the vintage fair and it is an item exclusive. I really hope that you visit these events on the grid. There are some great products out there.

The Hanged Man

I’ve taken pictures for a really long time in second life, or at least it feels like a long time. I’ve always wanted to take a mermaid photo, but I didn’t want to take this photo until I could do it justice. So I was really excited to feel like.. I’m getting to the point where I feel able and capable.

It’s always nice to feel capable. In the past, I would shy away from photos that were too difficult for me to take. But, I’m growing and I’m so happy people are growing with me. I was so giddy to put this picture up on flickr. I’m very proud of it. I had an image in my mind of what I wanted it to look like and this is exactly like I pictured.

I’ve always loved the beauty of mermaids. They’re mysterious and gorgeous. I also love the ocean. I’ve spent most of my summers near water. So I can definitely relate to being called to the ocean. I’m much calmer and relaxed, after I go. It reminds me that the world is so much bigger than I am.

But, sometimes people can remind you how the big the world is too.  I am very lucky to have the friends and people who care about me inworld. I have leaned on my friends here in sl this week. I am so incredibly thankful for the time people have given me. I’m glad the world is big, because I’ve surrounded myself with some really great people who pulled me through some really tough things in the past and present. I’m thankful for the shoulder and time. I’m thankful for the role play… well I’m just really thankful.

Blogging hasn’t been the easiest these last few weeks. Life can just be rough. So my blog posts have been slowing down a bit. I needed some breathing room inworld to relax with good friends and do some fun silly things. Sometimes when family stresses you out… you just need to go inworld and be a mermaid. I was for a few days.

To help me fantasize about something else for a few hours, I headed over to the arcade. This entire outfit came from the arcade. My top and gems are from Birdy. My tail is from Belle Epoque and my hair is from a previous gacha by Tableau Vivant. My entire surroundings were created by {anc.} products. I love {anc.}. I always enjoy going to their mainstore and shopping. It’s always so dreamy there.

Before I go, I want to talk about The Hanged Man card in the Tarot card deck. This card was the inspiration for my blog post and upside down photo of a mermaid. I wanted to place her in the water rather than land. It’s my second life artistic interpretation. “This is the card of ultimate surrender, of being suspended in time and of martyrdom and sacrifice to the greater good. I can relate to this card, but I think everyone can at one time or another. Right now, I am suspended in time, before everything changes. And who doesn’t have bad habits? There’s a few that I could break. Anyway, this was part of the inspiration for my blog post.

The Sun

I’ve been meaning to blog for a few days now, but I spent some time building this set and dealing with some real life health issues. BUT today is the day! I woke up to feeling as bright and sunny as this picture. So I knew it was time to edit this photo of myself and a friend of mine.

Because my time in second life is sometimes very chaotic, I always contemplate the time spent away and together with the people around me. When I came across this quote, I knew that it was perfect. It’s exactly how I feel. It’s always sad to have to spent time away, but it’s always such a joy to come together.

I was able to do a photo shoot with a good friend of mine Cuore. She owns a pose company called Cuca Designs. Her poses range from sweet couple poses to the naughtier side of things. I highly recommend her poses, if you enjoy taking those types of photos. She’s also a cool chick. Don’t cross her though. She has claws. I saw them and everything. Okay, okay, okay, okay, I didn’t see her claws, but she did tell me about them. If you’re interested in her poses, please check out Cuca Designs.

Moving along, I chose this particular scene, because I love the beach. I love the feeling of sand between my toes and the ocean sea breeze, sweeping through my hair. I’ve had so many fond real life memories of enjoying myself at the beach. I just had to create a photo, depicting fun in the sun. But you can’t go to the beach alone, you always have to bring a friend. It’s like a rule or something. Alright, it’s not a rule, but I always like having someone along for the ride. And my friend decided to come along with me. I’m really thankful for the time that we shared. Just like real life, I now have the memory of taking this wonderful picture.

Sometimes it’s really hard to move past things. And long ago, I had made a decision not to take pictures with other people in my blog. But sometimes, you change your mind or life changes your mind. In this case, it was my friends who changed my mind. You see this world can really bring joy to people in the simplest of ways. And who am I to deny someone a pleasant memory and a really good time? Or even to allow myself to have fun and make memories? I knew that taking this photo would do just that. Ultimately, I didn’t want my stubbornness to stop me from enjoying myself in this world.

Life can really make you want to hide away. We all go through things that effect us. And I won’t lie. My experiences have made me seek a hiding place. But you can’t hide forever. If you wear your heart on your sleeve, it can be even harder. I’ve gone through a lot in the last few months and I wanted to hide away. I didn’t want to talk to anyone. I didn’t want to interact with people in any world. It’s funny how life works though. When you don’t want that interaction, the universe will throw those opportunities at you–almost laughing while it does. In short, this picture means a lot to me.

Sometimes heart break can make you close yourself off.  I’ve done it in all worlds. But I can’t do that…not now, especially now. When you go through rough things in any world, sometimes you need people around you. They help heal you. They mend the broken parts. Friends can do that for you. Pain does break me. But it didn’t break me that day. So today, I saw the sun.

In the major arcana, the sun card is an image of optimism and fulfilment, the dawn that follows the darkest night. Having struggled through the shadow sides you now know yourself and know where you are heading, and the sun illuminates your path. My personal deck has a picture of a child naked. He’s free with nothing to hide. And neither do I… So I will speak of the darkest nights of pain or the burden it places on me. But the sun does shine, after the hardest days. Second life helps me to see the sun with a friend, even if I don’t get to go to the beach this summer. In a way, I already did. And I even had great company too.

On that note, I really want to thank a specific designer who reached out to me. I adore this designer and their creations. My wallet weeps every time I see something by them, because I am bound to buy it. I was going through a really dark day and I had a designer reach out to me. They gave me a virtual hug, which made me tear up. Thank you ++half dear++

In that sun card like the child, I have nothing to hide. I miss people sometimes. I miss the way things use to be. I miss a lot of things in second life and real life. But I know that the sun will shine again. The clouds will part, if you let them. You live. You learn. You make mistakes. But mistakes don’t define who you are or who you will become. I would never have learned those lessons without the friends that I have today. I’m very thankful in a lot of ways for my sl world.
